Although it’s hard to see because he currently has more hair than a grizzly bear, he is dripping with chrome. From his knee high stockings to his robicano roaning, he definitely isn’t lacking in the flashy department! It’s hard to put into words how much we love this double scoop of a gelding. Benz has been a part of our family for several years now and we have loved every minute of it.
Benz is a 10 year old quarter/draft cross. He has big, stout, feathered feet, enough mane and tail to make the big horses jealous, and bone and substance for days. He stands just shy of 14 hands tall and is equally as wide. Benz has plenty enough size for kids and adults alike to enjoy.
Had we not lost our main pickup to lightning this summer, he would NEVER be leaving us! But, unfortunately, buying a new vehicle these days is similar to buying a new house, and that is rough on a bank account!
Benz has done every aspect of ranch life and has quite the resume. We have drug calves in the spring for brandings, covered big hills gathering cows as the sun rises, and has enjoyed many a trail ride through town and across the pastures. If you are after a horse who will ride the same whether you crawl on in January or in June, Benz is your guy. He will ride in a group, or leave the barn completely alone, eager to see the sights and enjoy the day. He is guaranteed to get you home safely!
Benz knows his leads, has a very nice stop, neck reins, and is very user friendly. We feel he is a safe, reliable option for anyone who has a little time in the saddle under their belts. We have toted our toddler around on him and he has always taken care of us! We even lent him to a local boy to show for 4H after his gelding was injured and they did wonderfully together.
He is the guy that just wants to eat and get along in the herd so he is never one to stir up trouble. He is sound barefoot and stands quietly for me to trim him with the lead on the ground. He is the kind that doesn’t come around often so don’t let him slip by!
As with all of our horses, if you ever need a quick refresher after a long winter, or just want a little tune up, bring him back to us and we will dust off the cobwebs for you, for free. We want nothing more than to ensure the success of our horses in their new home!
Please feel free to call/text/email with any questions you may have or to plan a trip to take him for a test drive!
