Further information

The horse breed called Paint Horse is represented by the 'American Paint Horse Association'(APHA) in Texas. However, it is basically not an autonomous breed, but rather spotted Quarter Horses. The reason for this is that the Paint Horse has the same pedigree and origin as the American Quarter ... More about the horse breed American Paint Horse

Champ “Built to handle the world—and look good doing it.” RGS Champ is a 2015 APHA bay overo gelding that brings together presence, mind, and usability in a way that’s hard to come by. He’s built with balance and substance, the kind that looks right from every angle. That rich bay color paired with his overo pattern gives him a sharp, eye-catching look. Champ has a natural confidence about him. He’s quiet, aware, and tuned into what’s around him without being reactive. He’s the kind that thinks first, stays honest, and keeps his rider in a good spot. From the ground up, he’s the kind that makes ownership easy. He stands tied like he’s got nowhere else to be, saddles up quiet, and handles hauling, bathing, farrier, and vet work without any fuss. He settles into a stall or pasture the same way—no pacing, no nonsense—just a gelding that fits in and goes about things right. Under saddle, Champ rides the way a broke horse should. He’s smooth, balanced, and comfortable, with a soft feel in the bridle and a willing attitude. He moves out with a steady, natural stride, picks up both leads clean, and carries himself level without needing to be held together. His stop is correct, his turnaround is clean, and he backs with ease. Nothing forced, nothing overdone—just a solid foundation that’s been put there the right way. He’s the kind you can ride every day and appreciate, or pull out after time off and go right back to work without having to tune on him. Where Champ really stands out is how he handles the world outside the arena. He’s been ridden down busy streets and around traffic, including cars and everyday commotion, and stays steady and confident. He doesn’t get overwhelmed or look for trouble—he stays focused and goes on with his job. Out on the trail, he’s proven and reliable. Hills, rocks, brush, and rough terrain are all part of his routine. He travels out with purpose, stays sure-footed, and keeps his rider in a good position from start to finish. Ride him alone, in a group, leading or following—he stays consistent and dependable. We’ve also taken the time to introduce Champ to obstacles, and he handled it all with great composure. Tarps, flags, and other distractions are met with a willing, thinking attitude. He takes a look, processes it, and moves forward without overreacting. On top of that, he’s been used to gather cattle and understands having a job. He’s comfortable moving livestock and working in an open setting, adding to his versatility and making him a horse you can put to use when needed—not just one to ride around. Backing all of this is breeding that includes Colonel Back N Black and strong Two Eyed Red Buck influence—lines known for producing horses with ability, versatility, and good minds. Champ reflects that in the way he carries himself and handles every situation he’s put in. He’s not a horse that needs explaining. He’s the kind you step on and understand right away. Solid. Honest. Dependable—with just enough presence to make you proud to own him. Come meet him in person or reach out to set up a video chat—we’re happy to show him to you. Nationwide shipping available with reputable haulers. Dina at Longhorn Ranch Paicines, CA 831-537-1915
