Did he catch your eye? We call this big fella Knuckles. He comes by his name honestly. He looks like that big burly guy that has seen a bar fight or two. He has been ridden hard and put up wet more often than most horses, and has earned his shot at a luxurious life! Though he is missing a little hide here and there and carries a different brand on about every side of his body, he is still easy on the eyes and very well built!
He stands 15 hands and is soggy made with a TON of bone and feet like a set of all terrain tires. Knuckles is as utilitarian as he is versatile. He has seen the rocky deserts of Arizona, the mountains of Pennsylvania, and graced the big sandy hills of Nebraska. We have thrown every aspect of ranch life at him and he has taken it all in stride. He has earned a less busy lifestyle and we cannot wait to meet his forever family!
He will leave the group alone at sunrise to gather pairs and not see another horse for hours without getting silly or buddy sour. He is quiet and uncomplicated on the trail, he will watch a cow in the gate sorting, and will drag as many calves the fire as you can catch.
Knuckles can be a bit shy on the ground at first, but melts like butter once he gets to know you. He really enjoys a good grooming session where he can just be doted over and truly is a gentle guy looking for his forever person to love him! He is confident and brave in every scenario under saddle, and is a great leader on the trails with younger horses who need that experienced horse to guide them.
Knuckles is middle to low man in the pecking order in our mixed herd, and just likes to get along with everyone. He stands tied quietly, is barefoot and stands perfectly for trims, current on all his vaccinations, deworming, and vet work. He handles time off like a professional and is reliable 365 days of the year!
He is the kind of horse that would be a great addition for anyone who has ridden before and is looking for more of a one person type horse. He really finds his person and makes a phenomenal partner! Knuckles is the type of horse we kick ourselves for letting go, but he is destined for someone who has been searching for a big, quiet gelding to love on and enjoy who may not have the miles to make their own from scratch.
