Crown is a 10-year-old, solid-as-a-rock gelding—the kind of horse that shows up every single day. Standing 15 hands, he’s done it all: heading, heeling, ranch work, hauled to World Series, team ropings, junior rodeos, jackpots, and the nightly rodeo. Crown fits a wide variety of ropers because he is forgiving and easy to ride. We’ve gathered bulls and cows on him, hauled him to state parks to watch the elk bugle, and even used him as a pick-up horse for the junior wild pony races.
He’s my 12-year-old’s go-to horse, the one he trusts completely—even rode him with a broken hand and foot because he knew Crown was his safety net. My 8-year-old gathers yearlings bareback on him without a worry in the world. We use him to move pastures. He is defiantly the barn favorite around the ranch. Crown is steady, dependable, and has never once tried to jump or spook.
Crown has that “grandpa style” walk—head down, reins swinging, and big steps that carry you where you need to go. If you’re looking for a trustworthy partner with miles of experience, this is the horse.
