Roo is a family-oriented gelding that can ride with some class for the adults and is gentle enough for young kids to ride around. Roo is the type of horse that enjoys the kids dolling him up. He has a walk, trot, and lope that are smooth as silk. He is great out on the trail, carefully placing his feet to take care of his rider in any situation.
He has a wonderful personality—if you are looking for a horse to bond with and spend time with outside of riding, Roo is your guy. Roo has a one-handed neck rein and will move willingly off your leg cues. He has been hauled around the country and ridden in the arena, giving him a versatile handle. He gets along great with the other horses in the pasture and has no vices when pulling him out of the stall on Monday morning.
In the video, Roo was pulled straight out of the stall after being on western alfalfa for several days, loaded up, hauled to a completely different location, unloaded, and ridden immediately. He walked off the trailer like he had been there his whole life. We were riding in very windy conditions, yet Roo stayed relaxed on a loose rein and never batted an eye at traffic or new obstacles, showing his steady, dependable mindset.
Roo has been roping the skid on both the head and heel side, as well as loping the barrel pattern and being taken through the poles. He has a solid foundation that allows him to go in any direction. This is a super versatile gelding with a great disposition.
Roo stands quietly for the farrier and will ground tie until you tell him differently. He is the perfect size for a rider with bad knees, as he is easy to get on and off on the trail. He has been exposed to all farm machinery, equipment, road traffic, gunfire, deer, cattle—you name it. He is sound and up to date on teeth, vaccines, coggins, and health papers.
This gelding has been nothing short of a pleasure to work with since he stepped foot on our property. No matter what direction you want to go, this phenomenal gelding will be sure to take you there. He has all the buttons—side pass, turnaround, leg yield—but is just as easily point-and-go. Gentle, flashy, and broke, with unlimited potential!
