Smokeys Wild Gun, “Blue” is a 4 year old AQHA registered gelding standing 14.3 hands high. Blue is as stout as he is tall. He is well broke both English and western, sure footed, and smart with an old soul. Riding him, you forget his age. He is extremely well rounded with a solid foundation. Put him in western tack and do sliding stops, spins, or throw a rope off him. Put him in English tack and perfectly execute a dressage test or jump around on the cross country field. Let the kids take the reins and ride him in lessons. Or, hop on with the girls and go out on a trail ride. He’s the type that can seamlessly do any job, and do it both confidently and safely.
In the ring, Blue has three easy gaits, a great stop, and will neck and direct rein. He’s soft in the bridle and is happy to ride in a frame or on a loose rein. He is very well broke under western tack and has a true one hand neck rein, works off leg pressure, has a sliding stop, and rides low and slow. Even the English riders have fun trying out his buttons! Under English tack, he puts together dressage tests with ease, has great transitions, and is easily adjustable. He’s used weekly in kids lessons, and could take up the lesson horse job today. He kicks it into low gear and plods along like an old schoolmaster.
On the trails, Blue is a pro. He will ride alone or in a group, and crosses all the obstacles. He will cross water, pop over logs, and is safe in traffic. He’s been ridden on the mountainside while logging was happening 50’ away and didn’t blink an eye at the loud machines, branches snapping, and trees falling. The kids love taking him through the trail obstacle courses! He’s been sure footed and reliable everywhere we have taken him. Load him up and ride him anywhere you dream up!
In the barn, Blue is friendly and gentle. He has great ground manners and enjoys being around people. He’s used to kids, dogs, and ponies running around, and doesn’t get worked up by his surroundings. Blue is an easy keeper that lives outside 24/7 in a mixed herd.
