Cheese is an absolutely gorgeous red roan gelding with just the right amount of chrome, featuring two hind socks and a clean blaze that makes him stand out wherever he goes. He’s the kind that catches your eye in the pasture and keeps your attention once you swing a leg over him. With his strong build and natural athleticism, Cheese is put together to handle a full day’s work and still feel good doing it.
For the last two years, Cheese has been a key part of our personal string and our go-to ranch horse. He has done every aspect of ranch work you can imagine—from gathering, sorting, and branding to doctoring cattle out in big country. When there’s a job that needs done, he’s the one we reach for, and he’s proven himself time and time again to be dependable, capable, and all heart.
In the arena, Cheese is very broke and a pleasure to ride. He lopes nice, collected circles, rides willingly off your seat and legs, and is soft in his face and sides. He has a nice stop, is naturally cowy, and works off his hind end the way a good one should. We have heeled off of him, and he’s also been used as a solid breakaway horse, showing his versatility both inside and outside the arena.
Cheese has also been used at rodeos to pick up broncs and shag bulls, handling the pressure and fast pace with confidence. What really sets him apart is his mind and consistency—he’s good-minded and stays the same whether you ride him every day or leave him off for weeks or even months at a time. He’s a versatile gelding that can go in many different directions and is ready to be a dependable partner wherever you take him.
