Rooster is the kind of gelding that checks all the boxes. He’s safe, seasoned, and stunning. This gorgeous 9 year old buckskin stands 14.3 hands tall and is built to last, with a thick build, a thick mane and tail and four jet-black socks that make him stand out anywhere he goes. Whether you’re looking for a steady trail partner, a confidence building family horse, or something with some ranch experience, Rooster is one you can count on.
Rooster has that quiet, easy going personality everyone is looking for. He is very in-your-pocket and friendly without being pushy, and he’s respectful of your space with excellent ground manners. He leads, loads, ties, and stands like a gentleman. He’s the same every time you catch him. No silly business, no drama, just a kind and honest gelding that wants to please.
In the arena, Rooster is broke and user friendly. He rides with a true one-hand neck rein, moves off your legs, and has a smooth lope that’s easy to sit. He’s not overly sensitive or quick but forgiving. And that makes him an excellent choice for beginners, kids, or anyone who just wants a safe and uncomplicated ride.
Outside the arena, Rooster shines on the trail. He’s confident and sure footed, crosses water, goes through brush, and handles logs, ditches, and steep terrain with ease. He’s not spooky, not reactive, and not the kind to get rattled by new environments. He’s been ridden alone and in groups and is content either way.
Rooster also has real ranch experience. He’s been used to push cows, sort pairs, and check pastures. He’s had a rope thrown off him and knows what a day’s work looks like.
He is easy to saddle, brush, bridle and bathe. Stands quietly for the farrier and is currently wearing four shoes. Rooster is up to date on his Coggins, dewormer, and rabies vaccination. He sells sound and ready to go to work or hit the trails.
If you’re searching for that hard to find combination of looks, temperament, training, and total safety, Rooster might be the one you’ve been waiting for. If you would like to check out Rooster or have any questions please feel free to contact Ethan at (814) 924-3828
