Poco is a stunning, bay roan, 5 yr old, 13.3-hand Quarter Pony mare, that turns heads wherever she goes. With her long, flowing mane and tail, stocky build, and eye-catching coloring, she’s the total package in a pint-sized powerhouse. She’s the perfect in-between size—small enough to make kids feel confident, yet sturdy enough for the adults to enjoy as well. Poco is truly a horse the whole family can enjoy. She’s logged countless trail miles and handles rough terrain like a pro—crossing water, climbing hills, and confidently leading the way like she owns the trail. She’s happy going out solo or splitting off from the group without hesitation. Got snacks or a trail soda to pack along? Poco has you covered! She’s carried her fair share of saddle bags down the trail the past few years and answered the call to be my trusty mushroom-hunting partner this past spring as well. This means that her and I packed out by ourselves through the woods for hours, she stood tied to trees while I walked around looking for gold and we came back with plastic bags dangling off her full of mushrooms. She never batted an eye! But Poco’s not just a trail queen—she’s also super fun in the arena. Western or English, she’s game for both! She’s smooth, balanced, and an absolute dream to lope circles on. With a great handle, neck rein, soft response to leg cues, and a stop that’ll make you grin, she’s as broke as they come. She has been used to check pastures with longhorn cattle even bigger than her, and she never flinched an inch. She’ll drag a calf, log, barrel, whatever your heart desires. Needing a gaming or breakaway pony? Poco can answer the call for that as well! She has a great start on both the barrel and the pole patterns, but will also track a calf and stop on a dime. So go get yourself a rope and have some fun! Poco is quiet, kind, and as steady as they come. She’s seen the fun show scene, flags, tarps, ropes, chickens, dogs, traffic, and kids—and she takes it all in stride. She’s easy for the farrier, good for baths and brushing, stands tied, loads/unloads great, and rides just as nicely bareback as she does under saddle. Whether she’s in a stall or out in the pasture, Poco settles in without a fuss. If you’re looking for a safe, versatile, and fun mare who can do it all—and look good doing it—Poco’s your girl.
