Andalusian Quarter Cross Mare

Torta is the kind of mare everyone truly enjoys having in their barn. This beautiful Andalusian x Quarter Horse cross combines gorgeous looks with the kind of easy going, trustworthy mind that makes her truly special.

She is as beginner safe as they come and is quiet, patient, and forgiving. Torta takes care of her rider every step of the way, even if it’s a first timer learning the basics. We recently used her for a large 14-horse beginner group trail ride in Rocky Mountain National Park, and she safely carried someone who has never ridden a horse before. We saw Elk, deer and even a moose on our ride and she never batted an eye. She fell in line, crossed water and bog pits, never caused any issues and didn’t scare her rider.
She’s the same horse every day you pull her out, even with time off, and has no interest in being anything but kind and cooperative.

Under saddle she’s very smooth, easy to sit, and uncomplicated. She moves off quietly, steers with ease, and has a nice “more whoa than go” feel while still being responsive when asked. She’s happy to walk along on a loose rein, making her a perfect confidence builder and family horse. She rides well in a hackamore, bit, and even bridleless. She has been used in a beginner lesson program and camp and is used to kids around her and on her back. My friend’s 3 year old has ridden her unassisted as well as double with another 2yo.

Torta’s good nature carries over to the ground as well. she’s easy to catch, good to groom, is good for the farrier and vet and enjoys attention. She fits in wherever you put her and is the type you can trust around little kids and beginner adults.
