Kanye is a 16.2–16.3hh, 4-year-old Spotted Draft/Paint cross gelding.
This young horse is absolutely phenomenal in every way! Not only is he drop-dead gorgeous—he’s extremely versatile and incredibly talented for his age. Whether you want to throw a western saddle on and hit the trails, or a dressage saddle and do some fancy moves, he’s the guy for the job.
Kanye is a complete doll on the ground and loves people. He has the sweetest demeanor—calm, gentle, and safe.
In the ring, Kanye has a balanced walk, trot, and canter both directions. He will do walk-to-canter transitions, side pass at all three gaits, spin, stop on a dime—and more! He’s not overly drafty and has a light, floaty feel to him. He has the most comfortable trot in the barn, making him especially easy to sit. He’s the type of horse whose trot and canter you could ride all day long. He has slow, rhythmic gaits, nice transitions, and—most importantly—an incredible brain.
He has been very lightly started over jumps in the ring and on cross-country—what you see in the video is about the most we’ve done with him so far. He has cute form, is brave, and is careful. He has been honest from the start and never tries to pull anything naughty, even if you make a mistake. He is amateur-friendly and possibly even suitable for a beginner working with a trainer. He could truly go in any direction and has a wonderful foundation.
On the trail, Kanye has been out and seen lots of different things! He’s used to dogs, hikers, bicycles, traffic, cows, flags—you name it, he’s probably seen it. He’s been desensitized to smoke bombs, tarps, and heavy equipment. He will go right into the water or truly anywhere you point him! He’s trustworthy cantering out in the fields with a group and will ride away from the other horses if asked. He’ll pop over logs and small fences on the trail with no hesitation. He’s happy to lead the pack or mosey along in the back. He is very careful with his step and will go up and down steep mountains or rocky terrain—he is sturdy as can be. He’s not one to get upset about anything, and we truly can’t say enough good things about this young horse’s mind.
In the barn, Kanye is well-behaved and easy to work with. He is quiet in his stall, picks up his feet easily, and stands like a statue to groom and tack up. He has incredible ground manners and is always a good boy to turn out or bring in from the pasture. He gets along with all his horse buddies and is not one to start drama. He loads right into the trailer and hauls quietly. He has also been started in harness if someone wanted to take him that direction!
This guy truly has zero vices, and we can’t say enough good things about him. Kanye is absolutely phenomenal in every aspect, and we are proud to offer such an incredible prospect to the market.
