Palmer isn’t the kind to go unnoticed! He has dapples on every inch of his handsome bod, and he wears them well! Palmer stands 14 hands tall and is easily 15 hands wide. He is 5 years old but has the resume of a 12 year old! He will be the very first horse to meet you at the gate, regardless of whether he is in a stall or out in a section wide pasture. He is truly a gelding who LOVES the company of his people!
He is very user friendly and one who can take a joke for riders who may be less than perfect at mounting gracefully, or who may not have perfect hands. We feel he is suitable for someone who has graduated their old faithful (or two) and are ready for a younger horse who has a few more buttons and a little more pep in their step, but still needing something safe and sane to take care of them.
Palmer is the kind you can kick out on pasture in the fall and go grab him in April, saddle tight and leave the barn knowing you will have a great time and get home safe! We have focused most of Palmer’s training in the arena. He is patterned on the barrels and lopes a nice set! He has been hauled some to local play days and exhibitions to see the sights and hear the sounds and taken it all in stride. He has a lead departure that would make a reiner jealous, and the softest cadenced lope to go with it. He will go as fast or slow as you need him to.
He is started correct and slow behind the Heel-O-Matic and showing an immense amount of talent with it! We truly feel he could make a seriously competitive junior heel horse or a breakaway horse for a teenager looking to have an easy prospect. We’ve had him really hustle after a calf, then come right back to your hand and almost lope in place he’s so smooth.
Palmer is fantastic in town around all the noise and chaos that city life has to offer. From traffic to a train barreling by, he has taken everything in stride and is the confident kind that will take the lead when others are hesitant.
We have used Palmer some on the ranch as well. He has drug calves to the fire to brand and gathered and moved cows as well. He has more motor to him on the ranch and is one who can cover the big circle twice and still have gas in the tank.
Palmer is barefoot and easy to trim by myself. He is patient with me being meticulous and will stand quietly as long as needed for the perfect pedicure. He is current on all vaccinations, deworming, and is ready to enjoy the fall with his new family!
As with any of our horses, a successful relationship between you and one of our horses is paramount. If you ever need, bring him back for a free tuneup at any time! Sometimes the peace of mind just dusting off of cobwebs after a long winter puts your mind at ease and we are happy to help!
Please reach out for any questions or to schedule a time to come take him for a spin! We are happy to get any additional specific video or photo you may need to make the bidding process easier!
