Eddie Enzo Franches-Montagnes (Freiberger) gelding Born in 2015 Barefoot Currently kept in an open stable (paddock) 16.1 hh In mid-2023, we purchased a second Franches-Montagnes from a riding school for my partner (a beginner rider). Unfortunately, he is not suitable for beginners, as he tends to buck. We had him thoroughly examined (blood tests, X-rays, gastroscopy, PSSM type 1 and 2 including muscle biopsy), but nothing was found (a single mild ringbone without clinical relevance, supported by an expert opinion). Since his arrival, he has been professionally driven in harness (single and pair). I only drive him in a pair on the left rein, where he performs really well, happily and with engagement. However, I don’t ride him enough in the carriage to keep him sufficiently active (which is why he is quite overweight at the moment). He almost daily works in the lunging pen and, despite his figure, has excellent stamina. Additionally, I have re-established lunging training, desensitization to loading, etc. He already knew and loves groundwork. Initially, I also rode him outdoors, but I felt like I was on a ticking bomb. Since the beginning of 2024, he has not been ridden. Before us, he had different riders, was regularly turned out, and also jumped. He also participated in pony club activities with very young children. In terms of character, he is a cuddler, gentle with children, affectionate, but sometimes a nervous bundle of nerves without apparent reason. I am selling him as a carriage horse. He can certainly be ridden (he has excellent basic gaits), but his strength and preference lie in driving. As an all-round riding horse, I find him too "unpredictable." I wish for him to have turnout in an open stable or at least spend the day outside with a herd (he is not very familiar with box stalls) and more movement and interaction than I can currently provide. He is regularly vaccinated, dewormed, and his teeth have been checked annually (most recently in November). Please feel free to contact me for further questions.
