To sum him up, you cannot go wrong with him. He is the type you can put absolutely any rider on, do any job, and they will be happy, confident, and safe. Being around him, you'd think he was 25 - not 5. He was born quiet, gentle, and kind. Ride him every day, or once a month, and he’s the same quiet guy. He pops around the cross country course, has done lessons with the kiddos, trail rides like an old pro, and most importantly, keeps every rider safe no matter what! Horses like Douglas are few and far between, he has the moves and ability for experienced riders to enjoy, the gentle nature and steady way of going for beginners and kids, and the personality in the barn that even non-horsey family members will enjoy being around. In the ring, Douglas is smooth, comfortable, and all around easy! If you can’t comfortably ride this horse, there probably isn’t a horse out there you can ride. He will tolerate unbalanced and nervous riders, going around on a loose rein never changing his pace. He will also ride in a frame, do dressage tests, and move off when asked. He has smooth transitions, picks up both leads, and will do basic lateral work. On the cross country course and out in hunt country, Douglas will pop over any fence you put in front of him. He stays the same quiet pace, and is honest and trustworthy no matter what you ask of him. Off property and on the trails, Douglas couldn’t be any better. Load him up and take him anywhere. He has been the same quiet horse everywhere we have taken him. He loads easy, stands tied to the trailer, and is just easy breezy in every way at any new place. On the trails, Douglas crosses any obstacles, swims, goes up and down banks, and will ride alone or with a group. He is safe for anyone on the trails; grandma, great grandma, your youngest children, your friend from work, your wonky uncle, or your friend next door can all safely take him for a trail ride! In the barn, Douglas is like a puppy dog. The kids climb all over and around him, and he loves the attention. He’s a good boy for all of the usual barn tasks, and gets along well with the other horses. He is the first to the gate, and will follow you around the farm all day long. He lives outside in a mixed herd, and is an easy keeper with no vices or maintenance. ♦️ Recent Clean Vet Check on File ♦️Our program produces versatile and family-friendly horses for all disciplines and levels of the sport.
