Easily the most gentle horse we’ve ever had in our barn, Daphne is our go-to girl when we need something safe and reliable.
Daphne is the kind of horse every family wants and needs—truly one for the whole family, from little kids to grandmas.
Not only does Daphne have the classic black-and-white coloring, she also has a beautiful, thick mane and tail, along with feathering on her feet for that classic Gypsy Vanner look.
This mare has an old soul and the kindest disposition. She meets you at the gate every day, ready for love and attention, and will put her head in the halter for you. Unlike most drafts, Daphne is very respectful on the ground and follows quietly while being led. She matches the pace of a slow handler, always being mindful of your space. Daphne will stand tied like a statue all day long to be brushed, fly-sprayed, saddled, bridled, shod, and bathed.
You won’t hear a peep from Daphne, as she is not buddy-sour and not the type to holler for other horses. Daphne will walk out on the trails confidently with a herd or by herself, crossing mud, rivers, creeks, and going up and down steep, rocky hills without a wavering step. She has been trail ridden all over the U.S. She hauls great and doesn’t cause a fuss, loading into an open stock or slant trailer and backing out easily. On top of trail riding, Daphne has been ridden down county roads with passing cars, trucks, trailers, and wildlife, never blinking an eye at anything.
Daphne is also a beautiful mover in the arena. She has a steady and controlled walk, trot, and lope, with a smooth stop and a cute turnaround. Daphne rides one- or two-handed and moves off leg pressure. You can also comfortably ride her bareback in a halter if that’s what you desire! This mare is truly the do-it-all type with the demeanor to match. From trail riding to arena work to obstacle patterns, she’s your go-to girl for all things and all ages.
She is 100% sound with zero buck, kick, rear, or bite. She has clean, straight legs. PPEs welcome!
