Rock Lane Nick affectionately called Nickelodeon is a 2022 15.3-hand registered Percheron cross gelding (50% Quarter Horse / 50% Percheron) that is as enjoyable to be around as he is talented under saddle. Home raised and with us since he was a yearling, Nick is the kind of horse everyone hopes to find—kind, silly, people-loving, and genuinely eager to please.
Nick is a nice young horse, that has been given a thoughtful, correct start and shows a remarkably good brain and personality for his age. He has a naturally balanced way of going with an easy, comfortable lope, smooth transitions, and a big, quality trot that’s fun to ride. He’s been used for all the ranch chores, is solid on the flat, and has been started over ground poles and small cross rails, showing a willing and uncomplicated approach. Before starting his riding career, he was also driven in a team for a short period, giving him an extra layer of experience and confidence.
He’s a great trail partner as well—good over water, logs, brush, and bogs, and has been out on group trail rides where he stays sensible and confident. Nick is naturally curious and willing, preferring to think things through rather than react, which makes him easy to develop and enjoyable to ride as he continues to mature.
On the ground, Nick is a total gentleman. He’s easy to catch, good to shoe, stands quietly for blanketing, saddling, and bridling, loads easily, and is happy in a stall. He’s been exposed to all the “silly stuff” and takes it in stride—flags, tarps, sleds, dogs, pigs, goats, and general chaos don’t bother him. He sidepasses nicely to a mounting block or fence for easy mounting and aims to make his rider comfortable.
With his size, bone, athletic ability, and golden personality, Nickelodeon is a versatile, fun gelding with a fabulous foundation and a bright future ahead.
