Big Mac is a wonderful trail horse! He is extremely smooth and natural gaited: he does great on trails; he is awesome riding with other horses: he is never moody; and doesn’t care if he is in front; back or middle. We have taken him to Eastfork stables in Jamestown TN several times; he loves the trails, and he does great on the obstacles they have there. We have acres of farmland and an outdoor and indoor riding area; Mac does great riding all over the farm and in the arenas. Mac does well with leg pressure; starting to side pass and leg yield and turn on forehands. He is very stylish in his running walk and would make a great trail pleasure show horse. You can see in some videos he will also step up and extend his gait if you ask him to. He is easy to catch, bath, clip and stands great on cross ties or on the trailer. We have had him for a year and half. We started him a year ago in the fall. He has had lots of groundwork. He will lunge and leads easily. He is 15.3 and 1/2 in. hands. He will probably make it to 16 hands. His father is a registered silver dapple TWH; his mother was a palomino smooth gaited walking horse, but she was not registered. We have had several horses from this TWH bloodlines and they have all been incredible trail and show horses. They all have great gaits; and are just plain shod. Mac will gait just as well barefoot as with his keg shoes.
Mac has potential for gaited dressage; trail obstacles; trail pleasure shows and is great at trail riding. He has smooth transitions; and has been ridden here at my farm in equitation patterns; dressage patterns for gaited horses and worked on basic drill team maneuvers with my students.
