“Blaze” is a 5yr old, welsh cross gelding who sticks between 11.2-11.3hh. If you are looking for the ultimate, all around, kind, safe, do it all pony to raise your kids, your search ends now. Patience is his middle name, and this boy is extremely sweet. A true all arounder, with a brain like no other pony I have ever met. From endless trails, to jumping, pushing cattle taller than himself, hunter paces, fun shows, tricks, poles, barrels, all the way to being your best friend.
Blaze was never meant to leave us. But sadly, he has been outgrown by his rider here who loves him dearly, and it doesn’t look like my future is expecting kids. This is way too good of a pony to sit here in my field. Trust me, this was a very hard decision and not taken lightly, Blaze is ready to raise your kids, and take them into every direction out there. Blaze had a job when he arrived to me, and it was to teach Mia, boost her confidence, make her a better rider, give her love, and a true friendship, and he has done all of this, and more. Blaze has been with us for a little over a year now, and every day is a blessing with little Blaze.
In the barn, Blaze has absolutely zero bad habits. He is as quiet as a mouse in his stall, and never asks for anything. He can live in or out, and doesn’t mind either way. He lives mostly out with us, and comes into a stall in bad weather, or if he is being used that day. This is not the type of pony that you spend hours chasing down in the field to catch, Blaze comes to you every single time you step out in that pasture. He is used to getting thrown into random pastures, baby sitting other horses, living with my mini bull, and while he causes no drama, he can hold his own when he is put out with big horses. He enjoys playing with his pasture buddies and snuggling with my mini bull. I didn’t muzzle him this spring but last spring we had so much rain that the grass was crazy, so I did muzzle him until the summer months. He is the type of pony that you can trust sending your little ones out to catch, brush, climb all over, and play with in the pasture, this boy wouldn’t hurt a fly. Blaze stands all day long on the cross ties to be groomed, braided, clipped, loved on, bathed, tacked, you name it. He will literally fall asleep on the cross ties while receiving attention. He is extremely gentle to work around. Gentle ground manners, and super easy for anyone to work with. This boy was born broke, and born with mega patience, and I can’t thank him enough for his spectacular personality. He jumps into the trailer every single time, and hauls like a dream. Tie him to the trailer to get ready, he will stand there as long as needed. Blaze is great for the vet and farrier, and has been barefoot his whole life so far. He has nice, large, dark hooves. He is an easy keeper with no grain, hay in the winter, pasture in the other months. No maintenance, no supplements.
Little Blaze is an amazing trail partner. He has been through thick and thin out on the trails and doesn’t put a foot wrong. He goes out alone and in groups, and keeps up with big horses with no issue. He crosses anything you point him at, deep water, scary bridges, logs, rocks, up steep hills, down steep hills, down the roads, he has never said no. He is safe with dogs trailing his heels, bikes, strollers, deer, traffic, etc. Blaze has been trailered to so many new places and he is the same boy each time. Blaze highlines during lunch breaks, and would make the perfect camping partner. This spring we did an 8 mile hunter pace, and he did an amazing job. Blaze has also been to cow shows, sorting and penning, and he is not afraid to push cattle around that are taller than him. He never fails to amaze me. He has participated in pony parties, and given lots of pony rides to little ones. Throw him in the trailer and go do anything type of guy.
Blaze will happily play around in the arena. He has very smooth gaits and he is soft in your hands. While Blaze hasn’t necessarily had formal ring training, he is honest, and does what is asked. He will walk, trot, canter, and pop over little jumps. He can certainly take a joke and does not get upset if his rider comes off balance etc. He has a lofty canter and smooth transitions. He knows the word whoa well, and moves off of leg a little. No, he does not have a lead change, nor ride collected, he is just an honest all around boy. He has taken great care of Mia and she loves to ride him around bareback. Blaze rides western, english and bareback. He rides in a simple snaffle and will ride in a halter and lead rope as well. He is happy to pop over little cross rails, due to his age we haven’t raised the bar until recently and he is a very cute little jumper. We have played around with free jumping up to about 2,6’. But with a rider only 2’. Mia has played around with lines and small courses. Blaze does not need to be in a routine. He has been reliable even after sitting for weeks. He is the same pony every time, whether he sits or is ridden every day of the week. I was told that Blaze is broke to drive but I don’t have a harness and cart small enough. If to be a driving prospect, I would start fresh with him, as it’s been a couple of years since he has been hitched.
Blaze is big bodied enough that an adult can get on him, yet small enough that he is not intimidating to children. Mia had a huge growth spurt over the winter and while she can still ride him right now, she is ready for something bigger. Blaze does some fun tricks like lay down, bow, and will climb up on things.
This pony has brought so much joy in everyone’s lives, he loves everyone that he meets, and everyone loves him. He has been a staple in our lives for the past year, and while it pains me to let him go, he deserves to bring along someone else’s children, teach them the ropes, do great things, go on endless adventures, be a good friend. You don’t find ponies like Blaze everyday. We were lucky enough to spend our time with him. A good home is a must for this special boy. Please enjoy his video full of random clips from the past year. His video will show you just how cool of dude this pony is. Please feel free to reach out for any additional information. Shipping can be arranged anywhere.
