The Appaloosa is conspicuous by its coat pattern. It has spots, which are unmistakable and unique to the breed. Already 20,000 year old cave paintings show horses with such coloring. Many of the horses the conquistadores brought to the United States were spotted. In the 18th century, the hors ... More about the horse breed Appaloosa

Jubilee’s Windwalker is his registered name. He is a foundation old-style Appaloosa. So he’s from those good lines that have level heads, quieter demeanors, and nice stout builds. He’s all muscle with thick legs and big feet, and he can easily carry a bigger rider. He stands at 15 hands tall. And he is drop-dead gorgeous with that Snow Cap blanket. We have owned Windwalker since he was a baby. So he’s just a little bit special. Ever since he was a baby, we could tell right off he was going to be a special one. He’s always been laid back, in your pocket, and has such a sweet, gentle soul. And he’s only four going on 5 in January, but he’s the type that stays BROKE.

Most young horses you can’t let them sit a long time in between rides. And while I won’t say just to let him sit, because he does love hitting the trails. He’s the type that we have let him sit a couple of months in between rides and he comes out the same. He NEVER offers to do anything bad. I’ve been able to let him sit out in the pasture for a couple of months at a time and go out, catch him, saddle him right up, and ride right off down the road, no problems. He’s just that good and quiet about things.

He has good ground manners. Stands well for tacking and mounting. Loads right in the trailer and backs right out. Hauls nicely. He gets along with his pasture mates. And he is EASY to catch. He has a very friendly in-your-pocket attitude. That you would think wouldn’t be annoying. However, whenever we take the tractor out to his pasture, he won’t leave it alone. He wants to follow it, which makes it hard to get things done. He can be too friendly sometimes.

He is NOT afraid of traffic at all. Not only does he follow the tractor, but he also follows the quad around out in his pasture, too, and he will pony off of the quad. His pasture is down the road, so whenever we get him out to ride, we often use a quad to pick him up. And whenever he sees us coming, he will run to the gate and be waiting for us.
