Feather Dray’s Darth Vader is a 2020 Black Sabino IDHA (Drum) gelding standing a bold 18 hands tall. To know him truly is to love him. We have been incredibly honored to own this special boy and are excited to offer him to his next home.
Darth Vader is a true all-around gelding who goes comfortably under both English and Western tack and drives both single and double. He is started over fences and can absolutely fly over them, paired with a beautiful, level headset and exceptional transitions. He rides in the lightest of bridles, remaining soft, supple, and responsive. He will lope off with a simple kiss, stop with a quiet “whoa,” and offers lovely lateral movement with minimal pressure.
Out on the trails, Darth Vader is exceptional—sure-footed, confident, and well-behaved both alone and in company. He has the endurance to go all day and absolutely loves the water, happily spending hours splashing if allowed.
Under Western tack, he has a solid neck rein, packs a bridle with ease, and shows beautiful circles and an excellent stop. He is incredibly handy for his size—able to open and shut gates, drag objects, and work with the agility and feel of a much smaller horse. We cannot say enough about how light and athletic he feels under saddle.
In the barn, Darth Vader is as friendly and “in-your-pocket” as they come. He adores attention and will seek it out, has excellent ground manners, and is a true gentleman for the farrier. He is playful with his pasture mates and handles time off without any issues. He is the type you can saddle up and ride immediately—or hop on bareback and cruise if you prefer.
Darth Vader approaches new experiences with curiosity and confidence, taking everything in stride. He is UTD on everything, 100% sound, and ready to find his forever home.
